Freedom from pain, and healing
Our clinic takes care of the anaesthesia of every patient operated on at the Klinikum Dritter Orden. Yet our work extends far beyond that: we look after the patients on the Intensive Care Ward, conduct pain therapies for newly operated patients as well as for patients suffering from chronic pains. Our clinic includes the Emergency Unit, the Resuscitation Unit and offers pain consultation hours.
The Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine Clinic is responsible for the Clinic’s own Blood Bank, in which all the banked blood is prepared and tested. If a sizeable loss of blood is expected with a scheduled operation, the patient has the opportunity to donate his/her own blood with a suitable gap of time before the operation. In addition, special equipment can also be used if necessary to recover the blood lost. In all our activities we never forget the human factor: one of the Clinic’s guiding principles is respect for the individuality of our patients.
